This soft warm hat has been hand knitted in pure alpaca hand dyed in a blend of blues and greens along with some natural grey alpaca. I used alpaca yarn which I had hand spun. The criss-cross pattern used adds additional interest.

Alpaca hats are warm yet light to wear and as a natural hollow fibre they still allow your head to 'breathe' avoiding that hot sticky feeling.

Alpaca is a soft, light luxury fibre with all the advantages of a natural fibre and the added benefit of a much higher warmth factor than wool. With no lanolin and a very low prickle factor most people who find wool difficult to wear don't have the same problem with alpaca.

I prepare and hand spin the alpaca fleece, and then knit the items in my home in rural Shropshire. As far as possible I source the fleece locally.

Alpaca items should be hand washed in cool water, before reshaping and drying flat.
